2025 DRY CATAWBA

ORIGINS: Once America's mostpopular grape and wine, Catawba faded from memory when Prohibition dimmed thelight on this beloved style. Even before Jim and Betty Held reopened StoneHill, Catawba was the first grape they farmed. Inspired by our family andwinery's heritage with this variety, we set out to explore what a Catawba grapecould become as a quality-oriented dry wine. After tasting the results of ourfirst experiment, we were very pleasantly surprised, and we now present thebottle before you! Please enjoy a wine once lost to history and destined to belifted in your glass once again.

HISTORY: The Catawba grape is one of America's oldest native derived vareities, cultivated since at least the early 1820s along the Mid-Altantic and Carolinas. From there, it moved to Ohio and Missouri, where it became the nation's most popular grape and wine. Stone Hill Winery started growing Catawba in 1846, and Catawba quickly cemented itself as one of our most important Pre-Prohibition varieties. While Jim and Betty Held and their families enjoyed Catawba grapes and wines throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, it wasn't until 1959 that Catawba vines were planted again commercially. In 1965, Catawba became one of the three first wines released at the newly established Stone Hill Winery.

VARIETAL INFORMATION: Catawba is a red-skinned grape with a vibrant acidity and delicious aromatic expression. While its natural abundant acid allows for well-balanced sweet wines, it also can be crafted into beautiful dry wines reminiscent of bone-dry German Rieslings or carefully crafted orange wines.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Harvested September 2025; Alcohol - 12.0%
Farmed sustainably and harvested from our Morre Vineyard a few miles south of Hermann, these vibrant Catawba grapes were fermented in a small batch, managed by hand with a low-intervention philosophy, and rested in neutral vessels before being bottled for you.

TASTING INFORMATION: A bone-dry bright Catawba that delivers a zippy mouthfeel showcasing golden raspberries, savory and vibrant sun tea, floral blossoms, a light nuttiness, and citrus. Once America's most popular wine, Prohibition made us forget! Enjoy once more! (750ml)

VARIETAL INFORMATION: Some years, a perfect growing season produces extra ripe Vignoles (veen' yole) with complex botrytis like the great Sauternes of France. Careful selection of individual bunches result in a prized dessert wine.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Harvested October 2025; Harvest sugar 33° Brix; Alcohol - 11%; Residual Sugar - 15.1%

TASTING INFORMATION: Nectar of the Gods! A luscious dessert wine similar to the great Sauternes of France. Preserved pineapple and candied orange with a dried apricot undertone. The aromas follow onto the palate with a rich and very balanced acidity giving a very nice lingering finish. (375 ml)

2025 RESERVE TRAMINETTE

LIMITED DISTRIBUTION

BLEND INFORMATION: Traminette, an up-and-coming new variety in Missouri vineyards, is a hybrid cross of well-known Gewurztraminer and Joannes Seyve 23-416. Cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks combined with extended sur-lie aging gives this wine a complexity and structure on the palate while preserving the spicy floral aroma characteristics of this variety.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Harvested September 2022; Alcohol - 12.5%

TASTING INFORMATION: This dry-style Traminette has been aged sur lie (on the yeast lees) for 9 months to develop a more substantial texture and which balances the dryness. It has floral notes accentuated by tropical fruit, peaches and a spicy finish that adds to its complexity. "Designed" with the great Pino Blancs from Alsace in mind. Stone Hill Reserve Traminette is perfect as an aperitif or paired with seafood, poultry or Asian cuisine. (750ml)

TASTING INFORMATION: Vignoles (veen-yole) is Missouri’s premier white wine grape variety. This rich, full-bodied white wine displays lovely aromatic notes of stone fruit, honeycomb, candied citrus and baking spices. Although this wine contains a hint of sweetness, its natural vibrant acidity gives it a delightful, dry palate impression, making it the perfect wine to enjoy as an aperitif or paired with flavorful foods that might overwhelm a more delicate white. 2022 NORTON

VARIETAL INFORMATION: The Norton grape is a true native American grape of the species Vitis aestivalis and the official state grape of Missouri. Since the Norton grape evolved under North-American, continental growing conditions, it is perfectly suited to our long, warm summers and cold winters. In addition, it is blessed with a natural resistance to all types of fungal disease. Our Estate Bottled Norton is produced from 100 percent estate-grown Norton grapes from our own Norton Vineyards high above the Missouri River. Careful fermentation on the skins is followed by 12 months of aging in French, Hungarian and American oak barrels.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Harvested October 2021; Alcohol - 13.5%

TASTING INFORMATION: Barrel aged in oak imparts sweeter nuances in the form of burnt sugar on top of a crème bruleé dish. Cedar, cinnamon, mint chocolate, and rose petals with fragrant Maraschino cherries and earthiness makes for a very satisfying typical Norton nose. The wine has a soft attack on the palate that crescendos on the mid palette with juicy red fruit and vanilla cream pie. (750ml)

2024 TRAMINETTE

VARIETAL INFORMATION: Traminette, an up-and-coming new variety in Missouri vineyards, is a hybrid cross of well-known Gewurztraminer and Joannes 23-416. Cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks preserves the spicy floral aromas and flavors of this exciting new wine, which is similar to a Moscato.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Harvested mid-September 2022; Alcohol - 11.5%

TASTING INFORMATION: Crisp and spicy Alsatian-style white wine with a lovely floral aromatics of honeysuckle and elderflower on the nose. Pronounced notes of lychee and pear on the palate. Additional notes of lime and candied orange peel add a balance to the sweeter notes of Golden Delicious and peach. Great match with seafood and Asian cuisine. (750 ml)

2022 CHARDONEL

VARIETAL INFORMATION: Our Chardonel is the result of an exciting new hybrid grape cross between the famed Chardonnay and the popular Seyval, developed at New York's Cornell University in 1953 and released in 1990. A portion of the blend has been carefully aged by the sur-lie method (with yeast lees) in small French, American and Hungarian oak barrels to add flavor and complexity to the wine. By inserting a stainless steel paddle inside the barrel and stirring gently once every week, our winemaker is able to mix the wine with the yeast cells, or lees, which have settled to the bottom. The yeast cells slowly release a multitude of compounds, which develop wonderful, complex flavors in the wine. Our Chardonel spends twelve months in the oak barrels before being bottled.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Harvested September 2022; Alcohol - 13.5%;

TASTING INFORMATION: It's elegant, rich and complex, a perfect dry wine to serve with your favorite seafood, chicken and light pasta dishes. The wonderful bouquet and flavor of Chardonel are enhanced by aging "sur-lie" in small oak barrels. Anjou pear and lemon zest working together with ripe apricot aromas complement the toasted vanilla, hazelnut, and butterscotch aroma and flavor from the oak maturation. Often compared to a rich Chardonnay, this is a wine your guests will want you to serve again and again. (750 ml)

Varietal Information: Our Chardonel is the result of an exciting new hybrid grape cross between the famed Chardonnay and the popular Seyval, developed at New York's Cornell University in 1953. Select grapes, additional Sur-lie aging and a higher proportion of new French oak set our Reserve Chardonel apart from our regular Chardonel. Ninety percent of the blend was aged Sur-lie, "with yeast lees" in small French oak barrels to add flavor and complexity to the wine. By inserting a stainless steel paddle inside the barrel and stiring gently once every four days, our winemaker is able to mix the wine with the dead yeast cells, or lees, which have settled to the bottem. the yeast cells slowly release a multitude of compounds that develop the wonderful, complex flavors in the wine. Our Reserve Chardonel spends one year in the oak barrels before being bottled.

Tasting Information: Barrel fermentation in large 500L new French oak, special Sur-lie aging enhances rich aromas of buttered biscuits paired with green apples and ripe pears. Full bodied with notes of lemon rind, it is a true "Reserve" with elegant and complex character.
